The Laïlo fiesta at "Les Vagues" on May 25 th 2001
"Les Vagues" on May 25 th that's usually or the Reyes or the Baliardo family reservation.
Julio Romero from Gitano Family told us during our date I arranged and we had, that he,
Nicolas Reyes, Canut Reyes, and some others will play there at this date. So we all waited for
a long time, seeing a lot of "well known" as Hippolyte Baliardo, Nanassou Baliardo,
Billy Bissière, "Pepe" Gipsy, all waiting for the things to come. The faces got longer
and longer, no player appeared.
Suddenly, Silke, my wive, asked me, if the man there looking around a corner wasn't Felipe,
from the German group Laïlo. I agreed, it was Felipe Sauvageon, he had a guitar - a big "hallo"
started, because he wasn't sure if he can come to Saintes-Maries as he told me before.
I told him about the situation, a short call with the mobile phone, and Angel " Papa Gonzales"
Huertas, also from Laïlo appeared, also with a guitar, and than the fiesta started.
So a "half" group Laïlo from Germany saved the situation with a fiesta incomparable.
Pepe Gipsy and also Ricardo "El Bissarro" played their part, and from Saintes-Maries came a
Vincente, and played some Rumbas together with Felipe, that even "Pepe" Gipsy was as
excited as he can.
But there was no one more excited as Lauren Pace, an absolutley fan of Laïlo ! :-))
Later Julio passes in car and he told me, that they played a bit otherwhere, had to much eaten
and drunk, so they has been unable to come to "Les Vagues".
